Ruck 22

May 20, 2023

Scope

The Great Lakes Bay Veterans Coalition (GLBVC) is hosting a 22-mile ruck to raise awareness of the 22 Veterans who take their lives every day. The ruck starts and ends in Auburn and lasts approximately eight hours. Funds raised go towards the Blue Star Service Dogs program.

Blue Star Service Dogs mission is to provide military veterans diagnosed with PTSD and TBI another method of healing through service dogs and training. Through their programs, they seek to help heal visible and invisible wounds, provide families with new beginnings, and raise awareness about the potential of shelter and rescue dogs everywhere.

The full ruck (22 miles) starts at 08:00 AM.  The convoy will head north on 9 Mile and start a clockwise loop around Auburn.  For those wishing to participate in the half ruck, you will arrive at the park and be shuttled out to the half way point.

There will be a bus for people to stop and take a break if necessary and a trailer full of water, Gatorade, and fruit.

About Ruck 22

The Great Lakes Bay Veterans Coalition will be hosting a 22-mile ruck on Memorial Day. This is an annual event. 22 miles represents the 22 Veterans who take their life every day.

The event will start at Auburn Park in Auburn Michigan and follow a 22 mile route around Auburn and will end back in Auburn Park.

The ruck is open to anyone. For those who do not think they are ready for 22 miles, we will have an 11-mile option. We will also have several support vehicles and some of the support team are committing to ruck a few miles throughout the course.

We will have a small ceremony to kick off the event and we will be recognizing Veterans who took their lives at the mile markers
All fund raised will go towards Blue Star Service Dogs which provides service dogs to Veterans experiencing PTSD and TBI.
